Dave Champion’s fighting skills span many years and numerous disciplines.

As a boy, Champion started with boxing. Wanting to use more than just his fists, he gravitated over to the martial arts. During the course of his life he has trained in Chun Kuk Do, Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, American Karate, Judo, Aikido, and Hapkido.

At age 14 he went with a friend’s family on a trip to the local trap and skeet range and shot a firearm for the first time. He was hooked! He had the opportunity to pursue familiarization and expertise with a wide array of weapons systems during his time in the U.S. Army Rangers.

After the military Champion continued learning all he could about firearms and the most effective manner of employing them. He became a certified law enforcement handgun and submachine gun instructor, as well as a factory-certified Glock armorer.

Not only did he train consistently with numerous weapons systems, he also dedicated himself to practicing tactical scenarios every week for years. His passion for the “art” of tactics served him well when leading high-risk felony entries.

Champion operated his own firearms school – ProArms, Int’l – during his years in CA. Later he Rangermastered for the largest private firearms academy in America, where among other courses he instructed the Handgun Combat Master program.

After leaving the academy, Champion opened Combat Dynamics Group (CDG); an operator school that offers specialized high-end training that is generally not available in the civilian market. Courses range from covert operations skills to Advance Combat Rifle. All CDG courses stress “reality”. As an example, students are not permitted to wear traditional training gear. They must learn to fight in street clothes. If the mission requires certain battle gear, that gear must be worn or carried in such a way that the student can walk through any mall in America and no one would know he/she is armed to teeth and ready to “go to war”.

Champion Molon Labe 1911 (Signature Series), by Ed Brown Products

In 2010, Champion’s expertise with firearms – especially the venerable 1911 handgun – led Ed Brown Products [one of the top 3 manufacturers of 1911s in the world] to offer a limited edition signature piece; the “Champion Molon Labe”. Champion personally specified the features on this limited edition signature piece and has stated that it is the “perfect fighting handgun right out of the box”.

Champion is a bear when it comes to firearms safety. He insists that his students live, eat, breath, and sleep it. No innocent person should ever be harmed by your weapon!

Champion’s firm belief is that it is NOT the government’s job to protect you. It’s YOUR job to protect you! He believes that to whomever you look for your protection is, in the final analysis, your master. He has little sympathy for those who neglect training to protect themselves and then whine about being the victim of violence. Like everything else in life, it is a choice. Choose wisely!
